The Dalles Streetscape Project, the Dallas, Or.

 

HDJ Design Group was the prime for this multi-jurisdictional   transportation project in the City of The Dalles.  The Oregon Department of Transportation was involved in the review process due to the proximity of improvements to the State Interstate.I-84.   Mr. Zollner was the landscape Architect of record while employed with HDJ Design Group.

 

The street improvement was approximately 3 blocks in length with emphasis on a gateway into the historic area. A central design feature included a new roundabout for traffic control. The middle of the roundabout housed a replica of a historical site feature (monument) with cultural emphasis on concentric art panels flanking the monument. The content of the panels reflects select history of The Dalles Region.

 

Mr. Zollners focus was the historic monument replica design with LED lighting fashioned into the glass block walls. Street trees, pavers, native stone walls and stone hillsides.
